Hi there from germany, I just bought a Ka-Bar knife via ebay from the US. For me it was a good price since the standard Ka-Bar is too expensive in germany. I searched the threads in this forum and also google but I found not a proper answer to my question. The sheath that came with the USMC Ka-Bar is only stitched, all other Ka-Bars have a sheath with rivets also. So can somebody tell me if it is original and maybe how old it is? I have no clue.
Thanks in advance.....

I have one WWII USMC marked Camillus Navy MK II (Ka-Bar) in my collection with no rivets.
Two others do have rivets.

I have also seen them with heavy staples instead of rivets.

So I guess it could be correct.

Hard to date it without more details & photo's.
Several changes were made through the early years in pommel attachment method, handle spacer colors, tang or guard markings, etc.

Is this what you were expecting to have received?

@hso: Yes, that´s what I´ve seen after I started to bid. The thing is that there were two auctions and I just wanted this kind of Ka Bar. I recognized the difference between the two Knifes after I did some research.

This is what you need if you want an original.
I've had this K-Bar since 1967.

@clem yes, you´re right when I want to collect these items the one on your picture would fit my needs perfectly. I am planning a trip through the ukraine and this time I want a Ka Bar beside me. In 2005 I did a trip through uzbekistan and I was lacking a good all purpose knife, I only carried a standard Herbertz folding knife.
