New ammo maker for our beloved 10mm's ((Dead cartridge.))
have shot some of this stuff, it is accurate and a serious boomer. It's fresh loaded stuff, not a bunch of reloads and it's not loaded for the undersprung pistol. Give Ron a shout about his offerings or send your requests...and...BTW...tell him Allen sent ya.

too expensive....

Actually those prices are about par for the course for factory hollowpoints in most calibers. Those are 50 round boxes, not 20.

I suggest you forget about this ammo and go to doubletapammo.com for better ammo...............

How do you know DoubleTap is "better"? Have you tested this stuff?
I thought the 10mm guys would just be happy to have yet another ammo maker. Seems to be doing well enough for a supposedly dying round. You don't have little startup companies based around .41 Magnum or .45 Colt (as much as I wish....)

Go to Double Tap instead you say?
How about both? I have not shot either brand yet, but I am going to do so. If nothing more than to support these two upstart companies. I have never dealt with Reed's but I have delt with and discussed stuff with Mike McNett (owner of Double Tap) before and he is a pleasure with which to deal.
I reload all of my own ammo but will buy a few boxes from both companies to support them because I believe in what they are trying to accomplish. I like to support companies that support the 10mm cartridge.

BTW, keep in mind that with all new components the cost breakdown is as follows (using prices from my sources of components):
Starline brass (50) $7.50
Premium HP Bullet (50) $7.50
Powder (50) $2.00
Primers (50) $1.00
So that's $18.00 for a box of 50 loaded rounds not counting labor, testing, liability insurance, packaging, packing the rounds for shipment, taking the orders, etc.
Not that much is being made by either company. In addition, the equipment and bulk purchasing required means a lot of initial fees. Keep in mid that Double Tap also had special low flash, lower pressure powders formulated for his ammo. All in all I think the prices are fair. They are more than I "want" to pay but they are fair nonetheless.
I can reload much cheaper using all of the same components, but the brass is the most expensive part in the equation and I get mine back, they don't.

He needs to get a website if he wants to survive. It is nice to see that he is not just reproducing all of the DoubleTap loads.

Yeah, I agree with Sean. The prices are comparable to what's out there in factory 10mm HPs.
BTW, I love MCNETT's DT ammo too, but there's always room to welcome a new 10mm ammo maker, even if it's a smaller operation.
Ultimately, it's the quality of Reed's ammo in the hands of serious 10mm shooters, along with his customer service, that will determine whether he's a for-real player in this market. MCNETT and DT Ammo have proven themselves beyond any doubt in my opinion, but there's no reason someone else can't have a shot at it.
RAR's STHP load @ 1300fps is intriguing, but I wonder how extensively he's tested it (if at all) to see if the ST bullet will hold together at that speed (and in what test-media)?
Also, I'm still waiting for two low cost 10mm "practice" loads, using FMJs, that approximate the "heavy & fast" defensive loads (180gns-200gns) and the "light & fast" HP loads (135gns-155gns). MCNETT has said before that he's developing at least one such "practice" load.
RAR's 165gn Rainier TMJ @ 1350fps looks like it adequately covers the "middle-weights" (165gns-175gns). Actually, that load duplicates Texas Ammo's 165gn 10mm GDHP (also @ 1350fps). So anyone carrying the TA 165gn load now has a 165gn TMJ for "practice," giving identical ballistics and, probably, the same recoil characteristics.

I got all excited about the 230gr. @ 1040fps, until I saw it's a 135gr. JHP with a lead ball behind it.

Wondernine........well, DT also makes a 220 gr. FP Cast at 1125 fps if you are interested......

Hey guys,
I'm glad to see some of ya'll excited about the offerings. Since Reeds is actualy fairely new the offerings in the 10mm caliber are expanding. BTW would anyone be intrested in 105 grain fragnible round? I will be getting them for testing soon along with a 155gr TC round. Now, Jem375 I can appeciate your zeal for DT...but the market is big enough and growing enough for everyone. So I hope that it can remain friendly in these forums and not decay into a pissing contest.
Since we all benefit from the flourishing intrest in the 10mm, we should focus on pushing forward and grow appreciation for our beloved caliber. We should be good advocates not a fragmented group end fighting over who makes what and the best. Because in the end that will all be obvious. We need to support all these small companies who load this ammo and those who produce platforms, because these people are listening to us and our needs.
Some of those in the industry are taking notice in the rise of the 10mm, perhaps this will spark the wait and see sorts to re-enter old platform offerings or create new ones. Lets just hope it will continue to expand as the popularity increases. But, ya'll hollar at Ron, tell him what you want to see he does like feed back.

I have chatted with Ron at the range and he has an interesting project in the works that, if successful, will have me buying a new gun. I don't know if he wants it discussed yet so I won't say what it is.
