how do these compare to each other, from those with experience?
1. les baer 1911
ive become a victim of 1911 lust lately despite my better judgement lol. i rented a LB 1911 at a local range and it was the most accurate gun ive ever fired and its not even close. the price, low capacity, weight, etc all disappear when you know you are actually going to hit what your pointing at. this is what i want but problem is they start around $1900!!!
2. Springfield TRP
seem to have good reviews, and a good bit cheaper than a LB. how does this one stack up to a LB 1911 as far as trigger, accuracy, reliability?
3. Sig p220 SAO
220's seem to have nothing but great reviews.. and the price is far lower than a higher end 1911. how does a sig p220 compare to a LB 1911 as far as trigger and accuracy? i have never shot a sig and prob wont be able to unless i buy one; it costs less than half a LB 1911
i like glocks and i know i can get a glock 21 for far far less than these which will hold far greater capacity and will fire 860000012 rounds without a single failure but i rented one and did not shoot very well with it.

The LB is in a class above the Springer. It's hand-fit with no junk parts.
The Sig will be 100% reliable and surprisingly accurate. The trigger is not in the league of either the Springer or (even less so) the Baer.

If you want to spend the money, the Baer is great. If not, the TRP is the best value on your list and probably close to the top in value, period. Accurate, reliable and a great trigger, not to mention Springfield's customer service on top of that. Go with the TRP.

Baer, Springfield...the SIG is really apples and oranges.

Watching a buddy struggle with field stripping his TRP leaves me knowing I'll never own one. Not sure of your criteria for rankings but if cleaning and disassembly are out of the equation then I would agree they are in the correct order.

That just means your buddy is dumb. Field stripping a 1911 is a piece of cake.

How is a TRP different from other 1911s?

The trigger on this Lea Baer Wadcutter is in a word: superb. Incredible tight fit to all mechanical parts and it is the most accurate M1911 I own. Probably the most accurate M1911 I will ever shoot or own.

The single action trigger on my SIG P220 has movement before release, is heavy, but it is perfectly adequate for a self defense pistol. Part fit is very tight, much above the Colts I handled at the gun store the day I bought the SIG. Regardless of what I have read and heard about the new improved Colts, these unfired new Colts rattled as much as the series 80’s Colts of yore. I was very surprised to find the cheapest Springfield Armory GI model to be exceptionally tight.
My SIG is very accurate and totally reliable to date with 200 LSWC’s and 230 LRN’s. The slide spring is so heavy I have to sling shot the slide as I do not have the finger strength to depress the slide release.

If you are looking for a target pistol the Les Baer is top of the line. For a self defense pistol I prefer the SIG operating system. No external safeties, no flippers or levers to miss or forget about, just a heavy double action pull first shot. Just like a revolver without the wonderful single stage trigger of a Smith K frame.

I had a Sig 220, wasn't impressed. High bore axis, hard DA pull, fairly difficult to shoot accurately.
My replacement Glock 21SF is better, but not perfect. At least it holds 14 rounds instead of 9.

Sean, field strip a TRP and you'll know why he had trouble. He can do a full breakdown on the 2 other 1911s he owns before finishing the Springfield. The TRP comes with it's own specialty tools to aid in assembly/disassembly. It's a bbl that needs the recoil spring to be pinned under compression through the FLGR to remove the barrel.
None of my friends are stupid, in fact this particular one runs circles round most folks and does so with a humble attitude and the patience of a monk.

I'm curious about it also but not sure how many are out there to get a response to.

Really tough to beat Les Baer in my experience. Would not sell or trade MY Les Baer 1911 for ANY amount of money. No issues with it EVER!
Quality made 1911 & IMHO worth every penny.
Les Baer IS worth it in my experience.

FWIW, Hilton Yam recommends the SA MC Operator, but not the TRP, as a lower cost option to the SA Professional. I own a full size LW Operator, and I like it quite well (after swapping the FLGR & spring cap for a standard GI short rod & spring cap). I've handled TRPs, and they don't impress me at the price point.

Is this the TRP with bushing or bull barrel? Either way, both are fairly simple to take down if done correctly. I won't insult anyone's intelligence, but unless he just bought it there's really no reason to be having as much trouble taking the weapon apart. I can take down, reassemble and have it run through a function check in less than 2 minutes. Not a speed record, but I also wouldn't call that "struggling with field stripping it" either.

Ever fired one, or were you just not impressed by the way it felt? If so, what didn't you like about it?

Never got a chance to shoot one. The fit and finish was quite nice. At the time they were selling for $1500+, and the MC Operator could still be found for $1100 or less. I just didn't think that it was $400+ nicer than the MC Op. At $1500 plus I could have a full custom 1911 from Alpha Precision built off a Springfield Mil Spec or base model SA Loaded (or a more money if a more expensive base gun). I've shot some of the guns Mr. Stroh has worked his magic on, and I'd put them up against any other big name 1911. I ended up with the LW Op. because it was unfired, ANIB, and well under $1k OTD. Honestly, I may spend a few hundred bucks and let Mr. Stroh massage my LW Op.

Springfield TRP is the one i would go with :)
i don't see anything about baers that justifies the much higher price.
