SKS cleaning rod

I just bought a yugo sks and i took the cleaning rod out and its only 15in long! It might be a noob queston but do you clean it from both sides? and if so what is your technique
this is a fist for using a forum so exuse my ignorance

The cleaning kit has a small extension piece that threads onto the end to make it longer.

Is it threaded on both ends? K98k Mausers had the troops screw two rods together to make one full size rod, which the two troops would share.

NO, it has a ~4" piece that screws onto the end of the rod, then you screw the brush/jag on to it.
Or use your Otis kit, and just put it in the safe to keep it from getting bent.
stick you finger in the hole of you buttstock, try not to get your finger stuck, and see if the kit is there or not.

If it doesn't have the cleaning kit in the butt, you should be able to get a replacement.

I have the cleaning kit it has a jag a brush and a small pointed tool that dosnt thread onto anything. The caplule its in doubles as the handle and crown gaurd thingy. Am I missing a piece?

Mine has a longer rod. The small "pointed thihg" is to clean the gas port.
