There's a nice looking Ruger single action, birds head grip, for sale nearby. I'm thinking about it. I own nothing like it. What's your feeling on that caliber? I have no experience with it whatsoever.

good caliber, can be hard to find. You can also use .32 S&W longs and shorts in the same gun for more interchangeability.

Lots of fun. Low recoil, accurate, inexpensive to load, etc, etc......
The little Ruger should be a really fun shooter. I say go for it. :)

I have a S&W Model 16-4 which I enjoy shooting at steel plates - very pleasant shooter. I purchased a 1000 cases from Starline and have been using them.

I have one of the Baby Vaquero's in .32 H&R Magnum. Great little gun for plinking,..also a good carry for the field for small game here in Michigan.....I'd like to find a Bird's head. It'd probably follow me home,.....if the price were reasonable,....

Nice Taurus above! :D

I have both a Single Six and an SP-101 in .32 H&R, it's a neat round. Not much more power than a .380, but it does hit with authority. My hotter loads from the 3" SP101 were pushing a 90 gr. JHP at 1,200 FPS.
Go for it, you'll enjoy it. And think about getting into reloading, makes the .32 H&R a pretty affordable venture.

Don't forget about .32 ACP; It's semi-rimmed, and will function fine in most .32 H&R revolvers. The ejector can slip past them on a DA gun, though, so you want to hold it in such a way that gravity aids in extraction.

Well, were you able to make a deal? I shot mine Saturday. Lots of fun. Hot as blazes here in Al (upper 90's), but fun none the less. :)

Ruger Single Six, in .32 with a birds head grip? If that is the factory configuration, it is a rather uncomon gun.
The .32 Single-six revolvers are popular in Cowboy Action Shooting. Ladies and kids like them, as do people with arthritis of the hand. They also make a nice "cowboy concealed carry" gun, when loaded with suitable ammunition.
Ammunition can be hard to find, and can be a bit pricey when you do find it. .32s are cheap to reload once you locate a source for .32 slugs at a good price.

I plan to shoot my S&W 16-4 at Camp Perry next week in the Harry Reeves revolver match. I use a 115 gr. LSWC designed for the 32-20, Lyman #3118, at ca 760 fps. It does not group as well at 50 yards as my 38's but it will be fun to shoot.

Great little sixgun and a vastly underrated cartridge.

Not really. They went on clearance from distributors a few years ago and dealers nearly couldn't give them away. Dad bought two at $269.

A friend gave me a 50 round box of old .32acp hardball ammo that he no longer had a gun for. I have fired some of it in my wife's 3" I-frame S&W without a problem except that the ejector doesn't push the fired semi-rim brass out of the cylinder. If I don't trim my fingernails too close that's not a problem. The combination seems to be accurate enough for casual plinking, or maybe popping a rabbit at no more than 10-12 yards. I admit that's not really good performance, but since the .32acp FMJ bullets mike .309" and the .32 lead SWCs that I buy from Dardas Lead Bullets for reloading .32L brass mike .314" I didn't expect target grade accuracy.

The 32 mag is a great round and I got to get one but I want to jump up to 327 mag so I can shoot the whole range of 32 rounds.
