So I just got a used Dan Wesson 1911 in 10mm. I'd love to shoot it but I can't find a good amount of 10mm, not enough to warrant a trip to the range anyways (20 rounds here, 6 rounds there etc.) Anyone know where to get the stuff in increments of 50-100 rounds fairly cheap?

For practice, I buy the 1000 round deal of new "Canned Heat" 10mm FMJ from http://www.georgia-arms.com

I keep more than 1000 rounds for self-defense ammo from these vendors:

http://www.swampfoxgunworks.com
http://www.buffalobore.com
http://www.doubletapammo.com

180gr XTP or Gold Dot plus 200-215gr hard cast for the woods.

Enjoy your new acquisition.

thanks harry, never would have thought of any of those places. also, 1000+ rounds for self defense, are you expecting an invasion? :)

that serbian perivan partizi 10mm jhp ammo is the cheapest that i know of, about $17/box 50rounds online. i haven't tried it though, so i can't attest to the quality. only bad thing is that it's loaded exactly to 40cal velocities.

if you want quality full power 10mm, go with with swampfox. it's like $50/box 50 rounds though.

never tried GA arms reloads, and never will after the kaboom reports online. i don't shoot reloads anyway, so it's a moot issue.

doubletap's 10mm falls up to 200frps short of claimed velocities. don't waste your money on it. (google it, there's a ton of complaints). they also use crappy jhp bullets like montana gold and antique ones like nosler.

BB is obscenely overpriced, and also uses montana gold jhp's, but they do meet claimed velocities.

If my memory serves me correctly, MidwayUSA just had (or is having) a sale on 10mm ammo. Suggest you check out online or give them a call. I have two 10mm pistols and the only way I can afford to shoot them is by reloading and there is a ton of new and used cases for sale. Just check the component section of the High Road.

I have used BVAC (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM5832-1.html) and despite the complaits others have given I have had no problems in my Glock 29. Accuracy isnt the best but its not way off either. Nice thing is they use brand new Starline brass so if you reload you get some awesome brass out of the deal, if not you can sell it and recoup some of the cost to put towards more ammo.

I got 750rnds of Sheepdog ammo local here in Alaska for $.50 a round. Including 50 of JHP. Sadly I don't see 10mm on sheepdog's site anymore.

just curious if its a 5" 10mm DW PM-7 that has been bobtailed on the grip?

(always curious on tracking old pistols lol)
