Tell me about a Cetme rifle

Would a Cetme rifle be a good battle rifle to fill in my small collection? I already have a 30-06 bolt action, but I like the idea of being able to get surplus for cheap. I also like the range of the 308. How accurate and how far could you shoot with this rifle?

I shoot mine out at 200-250 yards all the time. With iron sights. It does 2 MOA (4" at 200 yards) with FNM surplus ammo (my favorite surplus, since there is no Hirtenberger around).
Yes, it would be a good rifle to add to your collection. But a warning--the rifle is built by Century Arms International and it is not uncommon for them to have an issue or two that needs fixing. Do a search on CETME and my screen name for more detail on all the above.

It'll take you a while to wad through right now. Very active forum and there's an unresolved issue with Century built CETMEs...
I'm interested in one as well and this site was a wealth of info. Owners manuals, armorers manuals, "what to look for when buying one" checklists, how to check headspace, etc.

I've been happy with mine, acquired in December. There have already been some CETME threads here on THR; you might want to take a look.
They were $289.95 this past weekend at the gun show in Concord, NC. I think that's a great deal.
You need one.
