Great Group For Me

I recently purchased a used DPMS LR-308. With my dog having surgery to get fixed Thursday I wasn't able to make it to the long outdoor range this week. I did want to get some more trigger time on it though. I needed to do a preliminary sight in of an Aimpoint on an M4gery, so I took them both to the 25 yard indoor range. This is my second range trip with the LR-308. After the group below I'm itching to get a higher powered scope & get it out to a longer outdoor range.

I fired this five shot group from the bench on the rifle bay:

145316

The outer edges of the bullet holes measured .44" wide by .70" high

Equipment:
DPMS LR-308, Millett DMS-1 mounted in Burris PEPR, Harris bi-pod mounted on swivel stud of factory free float tube, Ultramax brand .308 Win remanufactured ammo - 150 gr. Ballistic Tips in various NATO headstamp 7.62x51 brass.

I measured the vertical & horizontal distances center to center this time. Now that the camera batteries are recharged, I've taken a couple more pictures. I put a dime in the pics for perspective as well.

I know it was only 25 yards. It was also done on my second ever range trip with that particular rifle. It's also five .308" diameter projectiles fired into a group that a .705" inch diameter completely covers. I'll make 15 yard head shots on a standard silhouette target all day with a 1911, or even an SR9c. I'll crank rounds center mass into the 8 ring or better on a silhouette rapid fire with an iron sighted AR-15 at 25 yards for fun. Now I'm getting back into this whole shooting a scoped rifle off a bench thing I haven't done since I was a young teen - it's pretty addictive.

Good shooting, even if at 25yards.

Next step 100 then 200.... :)

I think you are going to like your DPMS. I have a Noveske and ArmaLite, and have used a LMT. The .308 platform is a fantastic design, very accurate.

Man I do that off hand at 100yards with a NAA Pug, oh wait I just woke up. No on second look, I couldn't do that with a pencil. That is some shooting, don't care if it is only 25 yards.

Thank you all for the compliments.

That, and more trigger time. That was my fifth of five groups yesterday. A couple groups were okay, a couple were good, and that last one was great. I know what the rifle can do, now I need to do it consistently.
