So I've finally got my hands on a VZ24 and I was wondering what all I can learn about the history of my rifle based on the serial number.

Anyone know of any online database of VZ24 serial numbers? Or even a book?

I tried dating an FN m98K mauser once. the other people at the restaurant gave us funny looks.

Since then i've stuck with Enfields.

Is it one of those Romanian ones with the scrubbed receiver? The best I can do is refer you to this guy's site. (http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Base/4417/czmain.htm) You can try to see if your serial numbers can match within the range of the data he has listed for "Romanian VZ-24" or if that doesn't work, email him with your data and ask if he knows. HTH.
