Beauty. Those 3" barreled S & W's are keepers. Now you need a mdl. 13! :D

thanks xring, I thought it was too, thats why I got it.
I would like to find alittle bigger grips, does anyone have any suggestions?
This gun is a great shooter, I was really impressed with how accurate it is.

I'd consider Eagle "boot grips" - the main thing you need is to fill in the area behind the trigger guard, without otherwise compromizing concealment. Or maybe add a Tyler T-Grip adapter.

That's a carry gun, and a damned fine one. Don't put anything really huge on it.

Jim March,

I hate to question our good moderator but don't you mean Eagle Secret Service Grips ? I put them on my 4" 65 and they have just enough grip to get my pinkie on. They are great for carry but I had trouble 'actually concealing' the 4''. So, I took them off of my 4" 65 and am saving them for when I get a 3" 65 or 13.

You are totally correct about not putting too much extra grip over and above the regular service grip. The pictured gun has great looking balance and proportion. IMO, you probably would not want the Eagle SS grips for extended range work for mid level and hot .357's - but boy is that Eagle Secret Service wood snag free. Plus the grips give enough control to handle a few full loads with no problem.

I can't believe I let a fairly decent used 3" model 13 get away about two + years ago over an extra $25. I figured I would need X $ for potential repairs and just wouldn't go any higher than $ 200. He would not come below $225, as I remember it. I thought he was being stubborn, but I was wrong. I didn't know how hard it would be to find a 3" in any condition except new or someones, pet baby mint condition never carried blah blah blah.

Sigh. I love this forum for the threads that people start. Just wish I had more toys. Great gun - you did good.

that is what I was thinking, something to fill in alittle. Just what you said Jim, not compromizing concealment.

Well they're not wood, but they do the job for now.

Used to have a 3" 64; try Pacmyer(sp) "Compac Professional" grips. These fill in behind trigger guard, yet leave backstrap open. The ones I had were'nt "squishy" either....

sturgeon, really like the M13 and M65s. These are Badger Grips on my Model 13. Regards, Richard :D http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/p7e7e07d5ba881eb08075fb435a7a2620/fa2d2c80.jpg

Here is a shot of my 13, a blue version of the 65, it has some Ajax grips which looked just like the Badger grips in the previous post, but I got carried away and took a file and some sandpaper to them and made them fit my hand.
3" K frames are the best for carry.

Sturgeon, very nice gun (as are all the gun pictures posted by others). I love my S&W 65LS (3") and I'm dying to find a nice 3" M13 to go with it. I think the 3" K-frames are some of the best examples of carry guns and some of the best overall revolvers period. Well balanced, small enough for concealment, big and heavy enough for comfort, long enough barrel to get "enough" out of most loads, long enough sight radius for good accuracy for most people (while many people have trouble with 2" and 2 1/2" revolvers), etc. You did good.

Very nice 65!!

I say get the tyler insert and use with the stock grips..nice concealment with more to fill in the frontstrap area for better control.:)

Thankyou all for the advice and the great pics of your guns and grips.
When get some grips, I'll post another pic.
I'm new to revolvers, so my dumb question is, what caliber is the M13?

Sweet gun.
I saw one today marked NYSP.
I am guessing that means New York State Police.
I may be wrong. It was in great shape too.

Sturgeon,

The M13 is the same gun as the M65, except it's blue instead of Stainless steel. Therefore, it's a 357 magnum.

Three-inch fixed-sight K-frame magnums rule!

As a matter of fact, three-inch fixed-sight K-frames are pretty cool even when they're not magnums. :)

Tamara.....are those the eagle secret service grips on the blued gun? They really look good.......tom

Not a lot of snob appeal (no offense to anyone!) but the Pachmayr Compac Pro for K-frame round butt are, to my thinking, the ideal CCW grips. Not too big, not too little, but juuuuust right. And relatively cheap. I have 'em on all my 3" K-frames.

Edited to butt in: Yes, those are Eagle Secret Service grips, and that's not just a "blued gun", sir. That's a sho-nuff genuine PC-13, the "very serious carry revolver", one of a limited run of 400. Tamara's too modest to point it out, but that's arguably the best carry revolver, ever. It's sooooo fine, in fact, that I'm afraid to carry my own copy, for fear of nicking it up!:(

I well remember Tamaras fine smith from a previous thread, my use of the term "blued gun" was certainly not meant to give the impression I think her fine gun is "average", it is an awesome example:D. I wasn't sure about the grips though, thanks for the info;) .....tom
