So, today I was loading and a small part suddenly broke on my LNL AP. I picked up the phone and in less than 2 minutes had a replacement part on the way for...free. My hat's off to Hornady once again....Yeah, yeah, I know some of the other guys give out free parts, too.:)

Which part? I recently bought an L-N-L and want to order some spare parts just in case something breaks. I don't want to be waiting for the mailman to show up. If I have spare parts, I can be up and running ASAP and then get on the phone to Hornady and have them replace my replacement. :D

This part was one of the primer slides. (You get two, one LP and one SP) The only other thing I have broken is a pawl that advances the shell plate....Personally, I wouldn't order those kinds of parts for spares. About the only thing I would recommend keeping replacements of are the springs that go around the shellplate to hold the cases on. You can buy them in packs of 3 for very little $$. I have never broken one, though. However, have read it is not uncommon. Hornady also will send out replacements at no charge.

I have those in my Midway cart already. The primer slide assemblies are cheap but I don't see any auto-indexing pawls on Midway. Perhaps the best parts kit is another L-N-L. :D

The primer cam guide is a good one to have on hand
The primer slide
The primer punch large and small
the springs
and depending on which model press the ejector wire.

I keep them on hand because i hate going down when i want to reload.

You should know that the shell retaining spring doesn't "break" so much as it eventually kinks up and becomes annoying ... it's simply a length of spring with the ends spiraled into each other - it's not a solid circular spring.

A lot of guys have bought a stack of those before realizing that when it separates someday, all you have to do is twirl the ends into each other again. I'm somewhere over 10k rounds on the current spring.

I've learned to remove the shell plate & spring when I finish reloading. The only time you will mess up the primer sled if you get shaved brass in the track and it does not go full forward all the way. I have had my press for over 3 yrs now and never damaged a paw. Makes me wonder if the indexing is correct.
