It will last forever. Over the years since they stopped making the six series there has been a growing appreciation for them, deservedly so, stout, well balanced and just the right size. I love my SS 4in Service Six. Not sure if they made a lot of the 2 3/4in service Sixes.

Awesome thanks guys,

So seeing as its a 2 3/4 one, does that make it more rare? Not looking to sell I actually just got it as a birth day gift and it seems stiff, pretty much unfired. Seeing as its police I doubt that, but thats the way it feels.

Inherited my dad's when he died last year. Like me, he was a lawman at one time, and carried it.It's blued, with the standard 4-inch barrel, and has quite a bit of holster wear. Gun is definitely overbuilt. Rock solid.

I recently sold that same model - dang it. The Service Six is a great revolver, hang on to it as it is good shooter and will last a long time.

Great gun but it can be hard to find accessories for it because the weapon is no longer produced.

Smith K frame holsters and speedloaders fit just fine. I just bought a Don Hume leather IWB holster made for my Service Six, accessories can be found everywhere.

I love mine. Its one of my favorites in my collection. You will not be sorry you bought one. In my opinion the best SA/DA revolver Ruger ever made.
Good luck,
Howard

Just the right size for a 357 Magnum. I wish they still made them.

Watch the watch...All you need is my LGS's address. Watch the watch...You can send it there because it really won't suit your needs at all. Watch the watch...You need a wondernine or a "foty!" Watch the watch...You have no need for an old-fashioned revolver like that...

Nope. It's not working.

If you have any choice get one with a four inch barrel. I had a 2" Colt .357 (for about a week) and got rid of it because the muzzel flash was so bad that it distroyed my night vision. It was like someone took my picture with a flash bulb and I could not see a thing for a while. Not a good idea because gun fights usually happen in low light conditions.

I really regret selling my Century imported Service Six, stainless, with a 4 inch barrel.

The holsters fit, but not the speed loaders.

Both of mine (HKS) do. They were purchased when I was issued a S&W M67, and also fit my Taurus M66, along with the Ruger.

I did find some hks speed loaders made special for service six, but it was a bit harder to find these than for a Smith.

K-frame holsters don't seem to fit the weapon right unless the holster is more generic in it fit i.e. some of the older models that were not form fitted to the pistol. I have a large collection of k-frame holsters and find that the kydex will not fit the Ruger at all. Same story with respect to the more modern form fitted holsters.

Don Hume's slide holster does fit both the K-Frame and the Security six well.

I have a G&G leather holster for a 4" K-frame and my Security Six fits it just fine. That's what I currently carry. HKS-10A speed loaders will not work; I think you need a model 3A. (I just carry a speed strip; if I can't get the job done with 6 rounds I'm probably toast anyway, but I want a reload afterwards.) I'm not surprised that a kydex S&W holster didn't fit, the Ruger is the same size as a model 15 or 19 but somehow "beefier" -- I think the cylinder might be just a hair fatter.
