I recently bought a 500 Persuader and I have a question about what it can shoot.

Looking at the manual I believe it can shoot just about any shell as long as it is either 2 3/4" or 3" but before I try slugs or 00 buck I want to make sure.

The manual covers more than just the 500 and doesn't really explain what it can fire as much as it does for the 590's.

thanks.

I shoot everything but 3.5" shells.
Everything.

My gun has the short barrel (18.5", I believe) with cylinder bore (no choke).
Even if you were to have a Full Choke, you should be fine, as long as the slugs have the grooves down the sides which can compress as they come out through the narrower Full Choke.

Somehow, I think one needs to be careful if shooting steel shot. I think the steel shot (which does not compress like lead) may not be able to be shot through a full choke (certain choke TUBES, that is), but someone would need to verify that. One would think a full choke gun would be made to shoot steel shot, for waterfowl!
