I came accross this at a pawn shop today. I figured before I made an offer I'd run it by some experts and see what you all think. I'm wondering how much this thing is worth and how much hassle it'd be to clean it up. Thanks and sorry about the crappy phone pictures.

It's valued not too much, send me a pm and I will give you the amount for it. :neener:

Does it work mechanically? I see some rust on it.

I'll give this one a shot (pun intended)...

1. First off, I'd pass on that King Cobra. The prevalence of rust makes me wonder how long it was stored in a damp environment and how much the internals reflect the same problem. It's a money pit waiting to happen.

2. The good news is that the stainless finish is the easiest finish to clean up and polish. The black sights...not so much. Lock work condition? Unknown until you can look inside. It would be a fairly involved labor of love to bring her back to snuff.

3. The bad news is that a home cleanup & re-polish will do little to give back the market value commonly asked for King Cobras. That semi-collectible value for discontinued Colts is already permanently gone.

4. Assuming you intend to use the weapon as a shooter... and assuming that it currently has no mechanical problems other than the rust....and assuming that you are willing to put a lot of hours (and some money) into cleanup...

I'd offer no more than $300. Otherwise...pass.

Thanks. I think I'll keep looking. I did some looking on GunBroker and this pawn shop is way out of line. I'm sure they'd come down but they are crazy asking 899.00 for it. Yep. You read that right.

I gotta do more looking in pawn shops.

I don't think I have ever since a KC in such poor shape...I agree with Chindo...That is a 300 buck gun at best.

Wow you'd think the pawn shop woul at least knock the RUST off of it before putting that price on it.

That's the sucker price. Sad to say, there's probably someone dumb enough to pay that much for it.

A nice KC is a $600 gun nowadays. That one is NOT a $600 gun. It would take $400 to make it a $600 gun.
