Tapco G2 trigger in a Saiga?

I'm converting a Saiga and after getting a new stock, pistol grip, and handguard the trigger (3 parts) seems the logical next/"last" step.

I've only found a few options that say OK for Saigas and they get kinda spendy. The Tapco G2 trigger specifically says "not for use in Saigas" but Tromix offers a modified G2 group for ~$10 over the price of the stock unit. Does anyone know what this modification is? For $10 it can't be much, but is it something I should do myself, or just stop being such a cheapskate?

If you want to keep the BHO, you can purchase the modified FCG, or shave down one side of the hammer yourself with an unmodified FCG.

I went unmodified, knowing I'll never want to reinstall the BHO...

You just have to remove about 0.060 from the right side of the hammer axis tube to make room for the bolt hold open. Did my first one that way and then left out the BHO for the next two because it was more trouble than it was worth.

I also did do it for the SAIGA 12 I converted because the BHO comes in very handy when installing a loaded 20 round drum.

I converted a saiga 7.62 and put a g2 in and it works fine. Its a little jumpy but very smooth. I never heard that G2 shouldnt be used in saigas, In fact Ive seen quite a few people useing the G2 in saigas.

I am in the middle of a conversion on my Saiga 5.45...I have about 500 rounds through my Saiga, and find I quite like the BHO, I use it all the time at my range. I will definately reinstall it post conversion...seems silly to have the option and parts and not do it.

G2 FCGs work fine in all four of my Saiga conversions. I like the BHO, too.

I think what they are saying is that the Trigger group is not for unconverted Saiga's. Since you moved the trigger position from the "sporting" position they are imported with to the original position you should be fine.

*I'm no expert so take this with a grain of salt

Huh. I had one on my Saiga conversion.

Give Dinzag a call. They have a G2 trigger specifically for the Saiga conversions.

Dinzag sells the arsenal two stage fcg, which is a little bit easier, and works fine with the BHO. I had to use the dremel for about 1/4 of a second on the sear to get the safety back in, though.

I am using the Arsenal 2 stage trigger in both my Saiga 308's and it is outstanding as far as AK triggers go. 100% reliable and also works with the factory safety which is something you want to check for. I would go for it over the G2 which I have also used and removed. I think I went with the Dinzag S308 2 stage arsenal trigger group. I don't know what the mods are. Its possible the standard Arsenal 2 stage unit would work but I don't know.

Why did you remove the G2? Did you have failures to function, or did you just not like the feel?

I'm currently leaning towards Dinzag's modified G2 FCG, but I'm still trying to probe around for more folks' experience.

Are you talking about a double hook trigger? They won't work in Saigas without cutting an extra notch in the receiver...

or cutting the right-hand hook off.
