A friend forged this blade, and got frustrated with grinding it, so he gave it to me. I finished it all up with a convex grind, cotton ito-cord over black ray skin and a kydex sheath with red accents all around. I'm giving it back to him (he doesn't know that yet)...

This tanto is set up for IWB at 1 or 3 oclock. I am currently wearing it (like, RIGHT NOW) at 1oclock and it is perfectly comfortable.

Finally the drop point I finished a few weeks ago, FINALLY has a sheath as of last night! right now it is set up with a mercharness, but I'm going also do an OWB set up, or maybe a teklok.

Slow at work, yeah... :) But this is all evening-entertainment. I'm finishing up a divorce, so I really don't have much else to do.

Brad,

Anyone that spends this much time making knives right out of the gate either has had a divorce, getting one, or will be. :neener:

I'm not sure if it's the angle of the first photo, but is the blade smaller than the handle? It just seems a bit "thin" for the interface with the grip. What about grinding the tang down a tad so that it isn't as pronounced?

Ding Ding Ding... The Mod wins the Prize! lol... I am currently waiting on our hearing next week to have the final decrees filed.

Yeah, the blade IS more narrow that the handle, but I didn't forge OR profile the blade, and wanted to remove as little as possible to finish it.

Mucho bueno Brad! Can I steal that sheath design. I have a knife that the owner wants a "shoulder holster" for and I think yours would fit the bill. Sorry to hear of your dilemma and I wish you the best. I hope it does not keep you from making knives. Good Luck.

Thanks SO much guys! :) THIS is why I love the knife-making community!

I am actually great in life right now. I'm 31, had to move in with my parents in the spring, but I haven't been close to them since I was 15, so this has been GREAT time together and my kids are loving it too.

Nothing special about my sheath to have to ask about "stealing" the design. I have finally learned enough about the mechanics of kydex to make them with solid retention, but smooth in and out. I can take any other pics you want to see of it.

email or text me if you have any questions about it...

Nice work again Brad. Sorry to hear about the divorce - hopefully everything works out well for you in the end.

That "shoulder holster" style is really slick. I really need to learn to work with Kydex.

Thanks Fergy, things are certainly looking up.. :)

Certainly not an original idea by myself, but I'm glad you like my version of it. :D I'm excited for this fall when I can wear it under my NorthFace jackets...

Kydex is easy... once you mess a few sheaths up. haha... my email if higher up in this thread if you ever have any questions...
