I found this for sale used, only 30 miles from my home. I sent a message to seller but am waiting for reply. Seller claims that this is 3o yrs old, but I don't believe this grip safety and hammer are original for this? Seller reports that his changes were to remove original sights and replace with tritium night sites, the grips obviously(which I hate), and some wolf springs. He mentioned nothing about grip safety or hammer. Can anyone enlighten me on this, from looking at the pics?

BTW, he's asking $700. What do you guys think?

For that kind of gun, it doesn't matter if its original, its not a collectable. $700 sounds reasonable to me for that Colt.

Thanks. I was more just wondering when they started using the beavertail safety and enhanced hammer, because the older models I've seen have the standard combat grip safety and hammer.

Either way, I wish I could buy a series 70, with beavertail and commander/enhanced hammer and better sights!

Buy it! $700 for a enhanced Colt, especially w/night sights, is a steal! JMHO

Sights aren't original.

I don't think Series 80's ever came with arched mainspring housings or short triggers. The grip safety and hammer are also after market.

I agree with JTQ. It might still be a good deal at that price, though.
