Help me design some fun!

Greetings, all!

I have a fun opportunity that I'd like some input on.

I have a friend who is interested in creating an art piece based on the "Target" works of the American painter Jasper Johns. He is fabricating six 4' X 4' panels, skinned with 1/4" thick plywood, and painting them a la http://americanthings.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/jasper-johns-target-by-artpostersdotjp.jpg

And then he wants to have a shooting party and put some holes in them! He imagines six people, with handguns, engaged in some sort of competition that will leave him with these targets riddled with holes. We'll be in an informal, outdoor shooting area. I am not sure what firearms will be brought, but imagine that it would include both semi-automatics and revolvers.

Leaving art criticism, or criticism of art, aside, I'm interested in suggestions about what a fun, engaging competition would be. These are big (again 4'X4') and bright. What distance? What style of competition, etc? How would you have fun with a group like this?

Thanks!
Josh

Put the targets up, side-by-side, get six shooters on the line, at the sound of the buzzer draw from a holster and execute a Bill Drill.

Repeat as needed for the proper amount of holes.

Justin, I agree with your suggestion.

Since it was mentioned there was six panels, angle one, so the bullet holes are not straight on. Try to capture the bullet holes going in at an angle if you follow.

With kids, I have put little paint filled balloons, in front of pieces of drywall, which gives one a Pollack effect. Not sure what you and yours are going for, still having bullet holes and "Pollack Splatter" might turn out neat.

What about trying to shoot a design, such as the American Flag onto target?

Forgive my ignorance, but would a Bill Drill be competitive with a mix of autos and revolvers?

A four foot by four foot target? Go 100 yards, open-sighted handguns. Do multiple bullet profiles - might get some interesting tumbling/keyholing going on.
