I have about 400 or so rounds of Fiocci .45ACP at home. Looking over their website (http://www.fiocchiusa.com/), I've noticed that many of their loads are loaded hotter than standard American counterparts. What's more, many of their FMJ loads are actually hotter than their JHP loads!

-9mm Luger: 123gr FMJ, 1250fps
-.38 Special: 142gr FMJ, 960fps

I had heard the claim that their ammo was loaded hot, including their 45 ACP ball so I chornographed some. Here are the results:

Five rounds of Fiocchi 230g FMJ from a 5" Kimber Custom

Lo: 816 fps

Hi: 864 fps

Es: 48 fps

A: 828 fps

Sd: 20

Sounds pretty much like all the other Ball I've ever shot. You don't suppose they exagerated in their adds do you??????????????????????????????????????????

Besides, Fiocci is cheaper than most US made ball ammo...who cares?

Most ball ammo in .45ACP runs between 800 and 850 feet per second.

Fiocchi isa da bella stuff. I didn't know they be claiming 830fps for .455 ammo with that 262bullet! It sure seems like 700fps to me , but I never chrono'd it yet. BTW the cases reload nicely.

Their .44Mag is certainly warmer and cheaper than the "equivalant" american brands (Winchester White Box, PMC, etc.). It is my new favorite range ammo - and probably deer/pig ammo as well.

Their 148gr. is the hottest .357 they have. The specs look kinda nutty. Almost like deerstoppers.

Several years ago I talked with a guy at the Fiocchi US distribution center in Missouri and asked him about some of the velocities and the barrel lengths. As I remember, some of the velocities were measured from a longer than usual barrel. I can't remember if their website shows barrel length or not but I remember figuring back then that if barrel length were taken into account most, not all, of their loads seemed to be pretty normal to slightly warm but nothing extreme. Could be wrong, that's what I remember.

Not only do you need to know barrel length but also whether or not said barrel is vented or not.
A non-vented barrel will show slightly higher velocities.

Almost all of the european ammo that I have tried are hotter than normal, normal being the US loads.

Fiocchi is definitely on the warm side.
S&B is warm too.

Their .357 mag is definitely hot, as is the 9mm. The .45ACP also "feels" snappier than say, WWB, but it may just be my imagination.
I wonder how much penetration you'd get out of those .357 "cone" shaped bullets (can't think of proper name:confused: ), they sure look like they'd be able to bore right on in and /or through.

The barrel lengths are noted in Fiocchi's spec claims for all their cartridges.

The US-version website omits this and other information supposedly so as not to overwhelm the casual US civvy consumer (in Europe and Asia, the customer base is mostly professional). Here's the Italian specsheet for pistol cartridges:

1 millimiter = 0.0394 inch
1 meter = 3.28 feet

And yes, the test barrels are a little long-ish.

It does indeed (to me) feel "hotter" from my P-32 than other ammo I've tried. I've also noticed that some people have posted that Fiocchi "smells funny". I've always thought my sense of smell was pretty good, but I don't notice a funny smell when I shoot Fiocchi.
I guess that's just one more thing of which age has robbed me because I don't notice anything.

I have used a bunch of Fiocchi and still do, I like it. Don't know about "hotter" depends on load and the gun I figure. I have no idea where my chrono results are. They have unique selection of specialty ammo as well.

I have used a bunch of Fiocchi shotgun ammo , in .410, 28, 20 and 12 ga. Shot most of a case of the 32 ga as well. I have reloaded the hulls and brass with no problems. Thier reloading component are great.

I wish I had some of their 12 ga buckshot, they also have some really great nickel plated shot loads as well.

The 142gr 357 is pretty harsh from my SP-101 but accurate.

The .25 ammo i fired from my Colt VP was definitely hotter than PMC or Winchester or CCI Blazer.
