What was your design philosophy for the HK P7 holster? I've decided to have one made for me for my new-old hard chrome P7, and I'm thinking OWB, even though the Del Fatti ISP, the Josh Bulman TSA2, and the Sparks Versamax II, all IWB, are supposedly the best!

What was your design philosophy for the HK P7 holster? I've decided to have one made for me for my new-old hard chrome P7, and I'm thinking OWB, even though the Del Fatti ISP, the Josh Bulman TSA2, and the Sparks Versamax II, all IWB, are supposedly the best! It was a design I had seen from Ray @ Lobogunleather. The theory is there is a center welt that you butt up essentially to the gun, 3 pieces of leather total. The slot is cut deep enough that the belt is stable, then comes out the back piece.

The cant was a little aggressive on my part, but it is the simplest way to allow for a full shooters grip on a pancake styled holster for a small gun in my limited experience. It took me more than one try to get that one right. I now utilize a welt in almost all my designs as it adds significant strength and rigidity along with taking the guess work out of fitment for me.

These are all outstanding. Everytime I get ready to "go pro" with my leatherwork, I see some fine craftmanship like this, that make me stay amature to perfect my craft a little longer.

Evil, I think we as builders are our own worst enemies. I look at each piece and see the few (or many) things I'm not happy with. Outside looking in on the other hand, usually provides better opinions.
