Saiga 12 + National Forest Target Shooting

I recently purchased a Saiga 12 and was dismayed to find that there is no place to really put it through its paces on the range in my area of West Michigan. I wanted to get used to shooting buck and birdshot through it on a range. I live near Manistee National forest and was wondering if it was 100% legal to go up there in a remote area of it and shoot some?
Thanks!

Yeah I read that, just the part where they say
"Target practice with a rifle, handgun or bow and arrow is permitted provided you abide by all state and federal regulations."
No mention of shotgun until you get down to
"Target shooting with a rifle, handgun or shotgun 5 days prior to deer rifle season is prohibited."
I'm thinking it's probably just written by some guy who thinkings a rifle=shotgun? /shrug

I'd think its a safe assumption shotgun practice would be premitted too, as shot travels a great deal less distance than a rifle or handgun bullet
