The other day when taking my Combat Elite apart my recoil spring and spring plug got launched. I saw where the spring landed, but the plug apparently can vanish through walls as I spent several hours looking for it, but don't have a clue where it went. I want to order a OEM plug for it, but Colts customer service was extremely unhelpful, and didn't act like they where wanting to talk as I assume because it was getting close to their closing time. They kept telling me that all their parts are on their website, and I'm telling them that no it's not as they have nothing on Coltsmfg.com for a full length recoil setup, and that kind of ticketed me off.

Again I would like to keep it factory Colt, but may go with a Wilson Combat or STI or some other plug if getting a Colt plug is impossible.

I'd simply order the GI plug and thank the 1911 gods for this fortunate event;-).

Sooner or later it'll turn up in a seat cushion and you'll have two factory Colt recoil set ups. Call MidWay and get the ball rolling.

I had that happen. Found the plug under the chair I was sitting on after searching the rest of the room and the hallway.

I can do you one better. I lost a bushing WRENCH. It fell into a recliner, which apparently has a bushing wrench black hole in it or something. It was at my best friend's house, and he still hasn't been able to find it in the chair.
