Sierra's manual lists COAL as 2.260". Hodgdon's Website data shows 2.235". Why the diferrence? Thanks.

Thats just where Hodgdons tested their load, or could be the min oal for a max load. Your rifle will tell you the oal it likes when you try different seating depths. Load safe!:)

2.260" is about max length to fit in an AR-15 Magazine.

I agree with JDGRay.

See the max lengh of the chamber and backout 0.010/20.
See if the max length of your magazine allows otherwise use as much as you can.
Try different lenghts and stick with the best results.
save a dummy with the winning round so next time you can quickly set up
your dies to clone that winner.
Cheers.

I have a 22-250, loaded with 55gr Nosler Balistic tips, book says 2.350", mine are set at 2.500" ;) Just to show you how far off a book can be from what shoots best in your gun.

I load the 69g matchkings to 2.300" for my Savage bolt gun. The result is around .5 MOA for three shot groups... I am going to play with the OAL some more though to see if I can make it better.
