S&W 29-2 4" blued, price check

Gun is a P&R -2, with a 4" barrel and butt ugly black rubber grips :p . It is in great mechanical condition.

Bluing is about 85-90% I'd say, this gun was carried a pretty good amount (lot of holster wear on the muzzle and cylinder). The gun also has lots of small fine scratches spread all over, as if someone may have cleaned it with a hard bristle brush at some point. None of that bothers me, as this gun would get carried if it proves to be reliable.

Any guess on value? I'm pretty up-to-date on my S&W K Frame and Ruger revolver prices, but I know Model 29s seem to vary quite a bit these days. I have a mint, near unfired 29-2 4" that I paid $750 for last year.

Hello friends and neighbors // Upstate S.C.

Paid $500.00 for a 29-2, 8 3/8" with display case(the blue fuzz is gone), half the cleaning kit, all papers, also included a Bianchi shoulder holster..
No top strap flame cutting, slight cylinder turn line, original grips but the revolver does have holster wear from the Bianchi leather.

There is also a 6" for sale with everything but a holster in better condition for $550.00.

HTH good luck finding what works for you.

I bought a 29-2 with 8 3/8" barrel, unfired, new in the display case last year for $600.

In that condition and missing the origial grips I would venture a guess of no more than 450.00. I'd offer 400.00 for starters and see what happens.

I walked into the AMRS pawn shop and U haul rental mobile home in Woodenville 13 years ago.

There under the counter was a minty [LNIB] S&W 29-4 for $200.
I asked, "Why is that so cheap?"
I was told, "It is on consignment, and the seller was just here, and wants the price reduced so it will sell fast."
I pulled out more than $200, put it on the counter and said, "I don't have time to look at it, but I am buying it, and I will be back."

Since then I have been watching the price for Model 29s at gun shows.

The ask price in 1998 was $450, but they would take $400.

Right now they want $650, but they will take $600.

All these years I have been told my smith would shoot loose [go get a big heavy Ruger], but I have been shooting full house 24 gr H110 and 240 gr JHP, and it is still tight as new.

I dunno.

I paid $534, tax included, for my 629-1, 4 inch, .44 mag not a month ago.

And that gun shoots!

So the 29-2 was made a while ago and I bet made right.

Good prices posted, but they mean nothing.

I remember paying 25 cents for a pack of Winstons.

If you want a real price, go to gunbroker and check the sold prices for the gun.

What have the other 85-90%, 4", 29-2's been running you've come across lately?
Rather a scarce item here-abouts.
