Anybody use it and how does it work in 9mm? I'm looking at loading 115 gr plated bullets, probably around 5 grains/charge. I've got 4lbs of the stuff.

My other powder options are Universal, Unique, and Blue Dot.

Check out the Hodgdon website for recommendations on Longshot. Its one I am wanting to try as well.

Try 8.0 grains of Blue Dot (NO magnum primers) with your 115 grain jhp. I have gone as high as 9 grains, but that was based on Speer 11 data which is now superceded by Speer 14 data (which lists 8.5 grains as MAX).

Unique is often looked over for more modern powders but its a good powder in 9mm; one of the best IMO. Start at 5.8 grains and work up in 0.1 grain increments to about 6.3 grains MAX.

I load both 9mm and .40 with it and find it produces excellent velocities and is easy to work up with. A 115 gr. jacketed data is 5.0 gr.- 6.0 gr.. I started in the middle, 5.5 grs. and ended up at about 6.3 grs. and pressures were still looking good. Used it in al of my Taurus's, G17, Beretta 92FS, and an XD.
Another one of the features I like about it is, you can't double charge without a powder spill. Try it, I think you'll like it.
Oh, there is one thing you might not like about it, it probably won't meter well through a measure. I use a scale and weigh every charge so I don't have any complaints of that type.

My son's favorite 9mm ammo is loaded with Longshot. We load a 124gr bullet, not a 115gr bullet. Longshot produces very accurate and consistent 9mm ammo for us.

For powder variation, Herco is an excellent all-around 9x19 powder.
Never tried Longshot, but it would seem best for near Max loads for max performance.

I've been using 5.7 grains of Longshot with 124 grain bullets for at least ten years. It works great.

I have used the same load with good success too.
