Hello I am new to single shot rifles. I have a question hopefully someone here can answer for me. I have a CVA Apex in 30-06 and when I close it and hold it up to the light I can see light at the bottom of the barrel, between the barrel and receiver. Will this be a problem? You can't see the gap unless you hold it up to the light. Thanks for any help you all can give me.

This should have been asked in gunsmithing but since you asked it here.
I don't have one or know the specs but I'm sure you should be able to see a sliver of light. You could check the clearance with feeler gauges but I do not know the clearance.

a couple of thousands of an inch is not an issue. As long as the headspace is fine and the case head is supported, you'll be fine. There is less than 1/2 the rim showing, you'll fine.

Ok thanks scythefwd. I'll check and see, but no more light than I can see I seriously doubt that I'll be able to see 1/2 the rim

d, think of it this way..... the case head handles the rear ward force. every thing behind that just keeps it from moving too far back and separating. as long as the rifle has proper headspace measured from the bolt face (its never measured from the chamber mouth) then it is good. on the apex, you just dont have the bolt ans reciever interferring with the view. i have a shot gun barrel for my optima elite that is the same way.
