When I graduated high school, my mom and dad presented me with my first firearm; a Ruger New Model Single Six convertible. I was hooked and became a gun nut instantly. Over the past several years my collection has inflated some. I obtained a few more from my father. It is definitley an addiction! What was your first firearm?

Mossberg 151M(b) .22 LR semiauto rifle that was made in the late 1940s. My grandfather gave it to me less than 3 months before he passed away.
Obviously I still have it and will never sell it.
My dad is a collector, so I was hooked long before I ever owned a gun.

My first firearm was a Browning Hi-Power .9mm. target model. When I got out of the navy, I got a job with an armed transport co. for this job i bought a new S&W 686-4 with a 4 in. bbl. latter on we went to .40 cal DA/SA. autos. It could be a Colt, Ruger, Beretta, or S&W. I did not want to get rid of my S&W 686-4, so I traded my H.P for a Beretta model 96. That's the only gun I regret selling.:banghead:

Technically, my first firearm was a .75 caliber matchlock brass cannon I made myself when I was around twelve. My first already-made (sort of) gun was a half-finished kit of a .41 caliber percussion cap Derringer I got by mail order when I was 13.

That cannon was quite a boomer, btw.

I'm almost 60 and just bought my first two handguns. A S&W 649 for my wife and a 686 4 in. barrel for me. Been going to the range and loving it. The world has changed drastically since I was coming up. It's a dangerous place out there and one had better be prepared to defend him/her self.

My first gun was Red Rider BB gun when I was 5 yo.
By age 6, I was shooting a Springfield bolt-action SS .22.

Man! I love hearing about all these fine weapons. I have to admit, technically my "first" gun was a Red Ryder bb gun. The Ruger I received for graduation was my first actual firearm. Its awesome how everyone has a story to tell, and only if some of the guns our fathers and grandfathers have given us could speak...the stories they could tell.

My first firearm was 20ga Winchester Model 37. My first handgun was Heckler & Koch Mk23 cal. .45ACP pistol. The pistol was great in that with minimal target time I could outshoot most of the regular guys at the range. Yes, in certain instances just throwing money at something makes accomplishing certain tasks easier. This is fine example of such an instance.

I got my first handgun when I turned 21, 4-63, it was a Colt .38 super auto. I paid less than $50.00 for it. It was used but in mint cond. I sold it several years later for a really good profit. Ever time I think about selling it , I could shoot myself in the foot. :banghead:

My first gun was a pawn shop special. a used, scoped ruger 10/22. I loved that little rifle.

I passed it on to my nephew for his birthday a couple years back.

There is no need to :banghead:. Seen Astra 400 at last show for $350. While it can not handle intensity of .38Super cartridge it is at least as good as Colt 1911 with less weight and cost to you. I'm partial to "pipe guns" like Scottish Round Action sxs game guns, Remington 700s and old Astra pistolas.

My first firearm was a Stoeger Cougar 8000F. It is still my daily carry gun. I just bought my kids (10 and 12) their first firearms. Marlin XT-22's. Took them to the range and they are hooked now too (much to the chagrin of their mother...lol)
