Does anyone know the best place for me to find a directory listing Class 3 FFL's? My inquiry is spurred by the new availability of suppressors in my home state of Michigan however since we never had them before, I don't know who can sell one to me!!!

I tried going around to all the local gun shops and looking to see if they had any full-autos on the wall but had no luck. :neener:

There is no such thing as a "Class 3 FFL". Any 01FFL (dealer) and 07FFL (manufacturer) can pay the Special Occupational Tax which allows them to deal in NFA firearms.

I would bet that the new law will see several pay the SOT.

The silencer dealer Major Malfunction has a good directory:

Even though it may not be technically correct everyone knows what you're talking about. Check the link I posted, it contains dealers in all states expressly for the purpose you described.

None in Michigan on the list. I'll tell the guy that asked me about it to go see Gunbarn.

If you are in the Mid Michigan area and looking. Found out that Williams gun shop in Auburn just put in there Class 3 SOT this week. So they should be dealing with suppressors real soon.

IMO they are the best Gun Shop in the area. I am associated with them other then a lot of money goes their way.

It's very likely because suppressors only recently became legal and machine guns are still prohibited. I'd pull up the list of FFL's in your state (available from the ATF - see http://www.atf.gov/about/foia/ffl-list.html), call the locals, and see if any plan to get an SOT now that the law has changed.

SilverBullet Firearms in Grand Rapids, MI is either in-process or already complete with their license to sell suppressors.

If you're ever over here they may be a decent choice. They have a pretty good selection of firearms and I would imagine will of suppressors as well....prices are "ok" though, shop around before you choose

I don't know where you are in SE Michigan, but these are the ones I know of off the top of my head besides GB2, from the boarder of Ohio to Rochester Hills.

Deuce Firearms in Dexter: LEO with a sidebusiness gun shop. Shot with him at a couple 3 gun matches. Nice guy. This shop is a Licensed Manufacturer.

Machine guns have been legal here since 2006 :scrutiny:

I've dealt with Deuce Firearms MANY times. He's my go-to guy for transfers :)

Most of the bigger suppressor companies have a link that will allow you to search by state. Even if the law was changed recently so private ownership is now legal there were probably several dealers and manufactures in your state for a long time.
