Bersa 9mm. Bersa makes some of the finest pistols in the world. If they made them out of the materials that Sigs and Berettas are made of, they'd be better than Sigs and Berettas.

Actually, my Kahrs are what Bersas would be if they were made out of outstanding materials. However, the stuff they use is more than good enough for 10's of thousands of rounds and decades of use.

I have 2 Taurus pistols. One had to go to the factory right out of the box. It's been flawless since returning - and they seem to be designed well. They have quality control problems with assembly which cause lots of folks to buy then have to fix to spec before they will work reliably. They do seem to be made from good materials, and their polymer stuff is nice once it's been "tuned" into spec.

I would have guessed South America's finest would be the Taurus 92 vs Springfield's 1911.

Is the Taurus that bad ......

Never owned one.......so, yeah ;)

I have owned a couple of Bersa products, and my father-in-law is the biggest Taurus lover in the world - and he has a ton of money? He has probably bought 15 - 20 of them over the past couple of years alone, and traded 2/3 of them not long after buying them because "they weren't what he had in mind", whatever that means. The man ran an armory for 2 decades and thinks Taurus is the best, but then again he said the best thing the Army ever did was switch from the 1911 to the M9 :uhoh:

My point is, I have seen more than my fair share of his Taurus garbage to take a Bersa, or darn near any other gun (RG?) over a Taurus.

Is the Taurus that bad ......
To quote the shipping clerk at one of my local gun shops "I ain't buyin' no Taurus. I send too many of 'em back." Yes, Taurus is that bad. The folks who have a Taurus that's good love them. The problem is that the odds of getting a bad one are pretty high.

I had a PT-99 for several years and really liked it. I hadn't any problems with it.

However, I've really been impressed with my UC9 and believe I would much rather have a Bersa HC9 over anything Taurus.

This isn't at all to say the Taurus is a bad pistol. They're generally good pistols in my opinion.

However, whereas I feel Taurus makes a decent pistol for the money, I feel the Bersa 9mm/.40/.45acp Thunders are wonderful pistols for what they go for.

The HC9 is strongly based off the Walther P88 and that was one hell of a 9mm.

I like Taurus, but my vote firmly goes to the Bersa in this match-up.

Never owned a bersa but lots of good things are said about them online. I have heard extra bersa mags are expensive. I personal like 5 or 6 mags for each gun I have. Mark

If something goes wrong with a Bersa, you must pay the shipping to them which is expensive.

I have four Besa's and all of them worked perfect right out of the box. The are great guns. I bought a Taurus and it broke the first time I shot it. I sent it in to be fixed. They wanted me to pay shipping. Six months later I got it back. It had two issues and they only fixed one. Their customer service has a nasty attitute toward customers. I would not buy another one nor would I recomend that anyone ever does. Bersa's are great, Taurus are not.

Easy - Bersa Thunder 9mm all day long. Don't forget that it's based loosely on the Walther P88, which may have been the best 9mm of all time.

Even it were a bad copy of a Walther, it would beat a Taurus.

I own a couple tauruses that are great guns. I have also owned one bersa. My vote goes to taurus in this case for one reason and one reason only:

The Bersa Thunder .380 is in my opinion the best Bersa there is, not the UC9.

Had this been between a taurus and the Bersa Thunder ... The Bersa Thunder wuld have won, simply because there is no better .380 for thatbkind of money. and very few better ones for a lot more money. but in the arena of the 9mm ... Taurus hands down.

The Pro was introduced a couple of years ago ... it has the rail on it, polygon rifling in the barrel, comes with 2 magazines. Mine is a great shooter.

Wow. Personally I think the HC/UC series is the best of the Bersa line up which I believe is the overall consensus, but we're all free to have our own opinions. The Bersa .380 certainly are fine guns too.

Bersa.

Argentine Police uses them for a reason in lieu of the FM.

I thought I seen somewhere that. The pro model has a different firing pin??????

Pro model has a rail, polygonal rifling, loaded chamber indicator and comes with 2 13 round mags and is rollmarked PRO
The non- pro comes with a 10 round mag and none of the above list.
I have a UC non pro with well over 2,000 rounds of Blazer Brass with one stove pipe with in the first 100 rounds

Bersa.

Argentine Police uses them for a reason in lieu of the FM.
Maybe because the Bersas are DA/SA with decocker, and very few police forces in the world use single action autos as standard issue*.

*Emphasis on few & standard issue - I know there are exceptions.

My Bersas have all performed flawlessly for me. I know several people who have owned Taurus firearms of various models and it sure does seem like they get rid of them because they end up hating them.

the Pro model has a chamber loaded indicator and a rail, those are the two things that I remember however, the Pro's are the "next generation", so to speak.
