does anyone know when a run of these was last made? Have any distributors got these now?

I am having a hard time just locating a SAA with 4 3/4" barrel new, let alone one with a 2nd cylinder. Does Colt make these in runs?

You can special order them from Colt or USFA with both cylinders.

Do I go through a dealer to do that, or call Colt directly??

You can call directly but you'll have to negotiate pricing with your dealer. I priced new SAA's a year ago and I could find them for around $1050, plus the cost of your additional cylinder.

Have you looked at USFA? I know folks are enamoured with the Colt name but they really do offer a better sixgun for less money. Or an authentic replica of the 1st generation guns for about the same money.

I sent my 3rd Generation SAA (45LC) to Colt and had an ACP cylinder fitted to it. That was back in 2000. Had the gun re-blued while they had it. As best I can remember, the whole package was around $250. I'm sure prices have gone up on various option ~ but you could take off the re-blue unless you needed it.

Just an option if you can find the right gun at the right price.

Best money I ever spent. The 45 ACP has saved me enough to justify the cost and personally, I think the 45 ACP is more accurate out of my gun.
