What happens if you are stopped by a police officer? That would be my primary concern, but that's just me.

In NC ya hand the officer your ccw permit with your drivers license.

I had 1 officer to ask me where my weapon was thru a traffic check , I told em & that was the end of it .

Have a nice evenin sir .

Well, open carry is not illegal in CT. I work armed security and on my way home I take my pistol out of it's holster and put it between the seat and center console to my right. I do this because my pistol is nearly inaccessible while seated wearing a duty belt. If I am on a longer car ride wearing my duty belt, I usually don't wear it. And instead place it on the seat. Pistol still goes in the same spot.

If I get pulled over I turn on my dome lights, hands on the steering wheel, window down and wait for the officers instructions. I may look like a "good guy" but I'd hope any halfway decent officer would still be cautious. If they do not notice the pistol or say anything and ask for my ID or anything else, I like to make them aware of the pistols presence for my own safety.

I'll even inform whilst carrying concealed, as my wallet and pistol are on the same side. I don't want a backup officer seeing a gun as I reach for my wallet and get filled with holes.

As a LH shooter, I like a RH IWB holster in the car door map pocket - works well

I love the idea... but I would hate to pay $50 for a super bargain El Cheapo Uncle mikes / Bulldog / Airsoft holster with a few additional velcro straps.

I think I can rig the same thing up from one of my spare holsters and parts from my junk bin.

I normally pocket carry, so when I get into my car, I shove the pocket holster between the seat and center console. It keeps the gun secure, accessible, and out of primary view. I keep my forms clipped to my visor, so my hand never goes anywhere near it.

Thanks for the link. Some sort of holster is a good idea for in the car carry. Having the holster anchored so you don't have to use two hands to unholster the thing is even better.

Aside from leaving the gun out in the open, it looks like an ingenious design. And this is one of the few uses for those cloth pouch holsters. ;)
