Yeah I use the 32 S&W/32 S&W short in my 32 H&R black powder pistols. I load them with 76 grain lead RNFP bullets made by Hunters Supply with .17cc (.85 grains weighed ave.) of Trail Boss for a reliable safe load in MY pistols.

For the 32 S&W long I use the Missouri Bullet Cowboy#6, 100 grain RN with .5cc (2.4 grains weighed ave.) of Trail Boss for accurate safe loads in MY pistols.

Be sure to read and follow the procedure from IMR to develop a safe max and starting load using Trail boss with your choice of bullets.

These have proved safe and accurate in my older weak pistols and you should work up a load with caution for your firearms.
Hope this is helpful.

The older Ideal Lyman manuals had both these listed with loads using BullsEye or Unique IIRC.

www.hodgdon.com has loads listed for both the 32 S&W and the 32S&W Long, you just need to load start loads if using them in older style firearms.

Flayderman makes mention of a .32 H&R Long in the H&R Shell Extracting Revolver of 1886-1888 and the Automatic Ejection DA Revolver of 1887 on.

The .32 S&W Long did not come out until 1896, so the .32 H&R Long was a distinct cartridge from ten years earlier. The late Bill Goforth says it was only made until 1905.
See post #3 at
http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=76520

It could not have been very popular, my 1901 Sears (reprint) catalog shows H&R revolvers only in .32 S&W (not Long) and no .32 H&r ammunition.

Note that he says not to use modern ammunition in those guns.
I think a sound one could be shot with black powder for a while, but these are not real sturdy guns.
