I'm gonna load a bit of ammo for a buddy, he has a Taurus 66 6".

Id like to give a bit of a fireworks show, in a good way that is...:what:

what powder do i need for a big flash/boom in .357 mag?
Im not looking for super mega velocity numbers, he mostly shoots paper.
I was planning on using some of these bullets, with a lightish crimp:

Blue Dot for intermediate loads with lots of muzzle flash, or W296/H110 for full loads with lots of muzzle blast and flash.

Bullseye will smoke and flame. If you want kaboom noise, go with a slow burner such as 800-X or 4227. Most of the smoke comes as a product of bullet lube and powder combination.

IMR4227 seems to make a nice flash from a 4" barrel.

Those bullets in your link sure are expensive. You can shoot jacketed bullets for less money.

Blue Dot?...Beware Alliant has spent big buck putting ads in magazines warning people not to use BD with 125 grainers in .357 for some unknown reason that they will tell...For nearly 20 years prior to that warning, I loaded lots of 125 gr JHP's with BD. You certainly get both flash and bang with them...After that warning, I laid off BD and started using Power Pistol.
