I was wondering of there is any enthusiasim for aHi-power clinic like the 1911 one?

If anyone is interested I will take my gun down and we can start with pictures of the base parts.

I am not as motivated to do this for the Hi-power as I was the 1911 but that one turned out pretty neat.

Up to you..... what do you think?

Sorry guys...My exprience with the P-35 is a bit limited. This sounds like a
project for the Dream Team of Keenan, Fuff and Camp. Those guys can
getcha goin' on the right path.

I'll be watchin' though....:scrutiny:

Well, I just bought my first High Power and am sitting here axiously waiting for it to show up in the mail.

I would definitely like to see something online that would better my understanding of this platform. Mr.Camp's books will be ordered in the next few days (ice storm in progress), so anything that can help would be a great help.

OK that is three positive replys. I have a few other projects to resolve first. Then I will try to get this rolling.

The newbie guide to a trigger job would be the most useful thing to post, since every new HP I've ever seen (especially mine) desparately needed one before you could shoot it straight.

I hear ya Bountyhunter. I was going to post digital photes of removing the Mag safety for sure.

That and boosting the trigger a few times was all mine needed. Still a bit heavy but very crisp. Real shootable.

A Hi Power clinic would be great. I'm particularly interested because I'm having a problem with a Hi Power Practical that I bought used several years ago. It's doing a failure to fire routine with Sellior & Bellot ammo, light primer strikes. The round will always fire on the second hammer drop.

I've ordered original springs from Wolf and will try replacing all springs to bring the pistol back to factory specs, but I don't know how to remove and replace the mainspring. The pistol also has very funky factory adjustable sights I would like to replace with some low profile fixed (maybe three dot).

I recently contracted "1911 fever" and traded a Beretta 92fs for a SS Springfield 1911 A1 which I'll pick up this coming weekend. :)

I'd be interested in seeing one, though more for the sake of completeness of the site than any knowledge. I've been elbow deep in hi-powers more than I like, lately.

Changing the mainspring is not a hard job if you have the right tools or really strong hands but it can be a HUGE pain if you don't have either. You have to outsmart it...:uhoh:

Camp actually has pictures in his books that seem to be pretty good. I haven't bought one but I've been looking at the pictures of the books on eBay and they look very well done.

Another good source of information for people is Mark Graham's hi-power video. It can be found at www.arizonaresponsesystems.com if anyone is interested. I think Stephen's can be found at www.hipowersandhandguns.com? Gotta check the address but I'm pretty sure of that one.

AGI also has a disassembly video but it's pretty much disassembly only and no gunsmithing. Wilson has/had one but it's more like propaganda for Wilson Combat's products than anything really useful in regard to hi-powers.

Let's get something going on hi-powers....:)

Get Steve camp involved and .. you'll have some powerful juju!!

Gotta say .. Steve's book stuff is well worth having .. clinic or no clinic.

Sign me up...my HP is having an extraction problem that I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet, so this would be welcome.

I'm interested in a Hi-Power clinic (even though my HP is shooting so well and has a trigger so nice I don't want to mess with it <grin>).

I'd also like someone to try a clinic for the CZ / Witness / Tanfoglio lines of guns. There are many folks out there with these guns just crying for help.

I agree with Walt. HP's and CZ's; doesn't get much better than that and I would love to know how to make each better.
