Will a sleeping bag fit inside the main compartment? My Wiggy's will only fit in my 2002 Motherlode vertically, no room for nothin' else, but I think the new models are roomier?
Sportcat?

Skunk, did your Wiggy come with a compression sack? If not, maybe you might want to get one. Oh, one other thing, how big is your bag when you have it all rolled up.. size wise? Length? Width?

Not that I'm using the Internet at work (i'm on lunchbreak, honest!) but I don't have access to mine at home, and if I did, I have no ruler or measuring tape :o
According to their website it's 10x20".

Yowsa!
Skunk, you don't need a larger Camelbak, what you need is a smaller sleeping bag. My Marmot easily fits horizontally in the bottom of my '02 Motherlode. All rolled up in its stuff sack, it measures a scant 7.5x10", and it takes up less than half of the Camelbak, leaving plenty of room for other gear. Plus, it only weighs 2.5 lbs... Compare that to your obese Wiggy (which, according to there website, weighs in at 4lbs)! :what:
Edit: I'm going to change that part about it fitting "easily". I've got it stuffed down in there, but it's a damn tight fit getting it back out.. Length wise it fits fine, it's the width part that is tight. (I'm gonna try and squish my Marmot down a little more in its stuff sack. Hopefully, this will help me get it in and out the Camelback.. um, easier..) :uhoh:

hmm...
am I the only one that hasn't been getting a BOB pack together?
I've been following the various threads, but I haven't even started getting the parts together.
:what:
I know I shouldn't talk, but aren't you supposed to have your BOB pack with you, even when you are at work (in the car). :neener:

Skunk, I am a big guy so my sleeping bag will not fit into a BFM, however
there is a guy in the squad that has a BFM and he generally sleeps in a sleeping bag liner (a fleece one) and he packs it into his.

Skunk, why not a compression sack on the outside?
If your bag did not come with a compression sack, try one of Outdoor Research's Hydroseal sacks:

Totally waterproof and they come in tactical black or forest green. They also feature a daisychain so you can strap it securely to the bottom of your pack.

Mine does have a compression sack, it just doesn't fit in my Motherlode unless I turn it sideways....

Get yourself a Snugpak sleeping bag and a good bivvy sack Skunky. Much less weight and size. Or are you in the Arctic region of California?

Now that I have my M-L jammed full of stuff, I'm beginning to realize that putting my Marmot inside just isn't going to work. It's not that it won't fit, it's just that there is some other things that I'd like to put in it's place. Plus, I've got a funny feeling that jamming this sleeping bag into that small space may not be the best way to go. I think I'll just pick up a waterproof compression sack so I can lash my Marmot to the outside somehow..
Also, this Camelbak is way too small for me. With it fully loaded, it seems to ride awkwardly on my back, and the straps pinch me around my armpits. Plus, the straps are too narrow to fit me comfortably, and they really need to be spaced further apart. If I'm wearing my Carhartt, and I try to slip on my Motherlode, I can barely get it on. I look like I'm trying to strap on a pack that was made for children. :uhoh:
I’ve decided that this bag will be left in my truck, for now. I'm going to go ahead and order a BFM to use as my main B-O-B. I just hope it fits me better than this thing.
Skunk, have you gone on a hike (yeah, out in the country) with your current B-O-B, Benelli in one hand, and your Wiggy in the other?? ;)

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Why can't you strap your compression sack on the OUTSIDE of your pack? Doesn't your pack have attachments on the bottom (or top) for sleeping bags, tents, etc.?

If Skunk has the same Motherlode as I do (which I think he does), it does have two loops on the bottom of it that could be used to attach a sleeping bag, tent, fanny sack, etc. ... ;)
Oh, and it has some on top, too..

I see. For BOB, why not put your sleeping bag in a compression sack on the bottom of your pack and put your tent/sleeping pad on top of your pack?
