OK, I found a absolutely pristine Model 29-2 (I think it was a -2) at a local shop tonight.

Here are the specifics:
-3" non-ported bbl.
-Wide, serrated trigger
-Wide hammer with hammer mounted firing pin
-UN-fluted cylinder
-Overall condition is superb with absolutely no visible wear anywhere, including no cylinder ring.
-When the hammer is down and the trigger has been pulled, the cylinder has exactly ZERO play in it. No endshake at all.
-Square butt with Pachmayer grips
-I believe it had adjustable sights and I know it had a red ramp front
-Comes with original cardboard box
Price: $500 out the door

The only bad thing about this revolver is that the trigger is awful. Heavy, with a little grit. When the cylinder locks into place right before the trigger breaks, it feels like the trigger gets about 2lbs. heavier. It is also coated with what seems to be some sort of sticky preservative.

I really can't afford to buy this revolver, but that is what credit is for right?

I have to make a decision tomorrow and need some guidance here.

Thanks,
Mino

I just looked at a similar 4" 29 (no-#) in like new condition with box for $450 and I think I might be able to pick it up for $400 cash.

That 3" gun is not an everyday gun, you had better hurry back down there and get it!!!!! Go! NOW!!!!!

It should be a round butt, but otherwise I think it is a Lew Horton 29, and I also think only 5000 were made.

My Dad had a 3" 29 Square Butt for a number of years, very nice shooting gun.

Go get it - as others have said, it sounds like the Lew Horton limited edition. When you've got it, send it to Clark Custom Guns (http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/) for their Service Action Job - it'll make that trigger slicker than an oiled finger over silk. :D

I've been looking for a minty 29 3" just about forever. I have a 629 3" that I love. If you'd like to make a few hundred bucks quick, I'm willing to pay (either a commission to you or a higher sale price). PM me if you'd like to sell.

Weren't the Lew Horton's round butt? I also thought they were all 29-3 or higher?

If it has an unfluted cylinder it should have the full lugged barrel.

OK, went back and looked it over again and it is a round-butt. The grips were the type that can fit round and square butt, so I had them take the grips off to confirm that it is a round butt.

I also forgot to mention that the bbl. is fully lugged. All that being said, I am going to pass on this revolver. I really can't afford to buy this revolver right now and there are other holes in my collection I would rather fill first.

Thanks guys,
Mino

Post the shop and phone number where it is please. That is a revolver that is not often seen for sale much less in pristine condition. The price is not bad either. For a S&W junkie this thing is a GO GO GO!!!!!!!!
