Are there any problems to expect in fitting a Commander sized (4-4.25") slide & barrel to a standard P14 lightweight frame?

Just what kind of fitting should be needed?

Commander slides are usually designed to work with frames that have the rails and recoil spring guide abutment cut back 0.100". There are shorter slides out there that are designed to be used on the standard Government model type frames, Essex made some years ago, mostly for companies like ODI, Detonics and some other manufacturers.

You can cut the dust cover back and they work fine. Call your favorite 1911 smith and talk to him about it.

There is a problem with the rails and dust shroud being too long? I thought that was just a visual thing.

Amish,

If you get a slide from a Para P13.45 if will mate right up with no mods to the frame.

Thats what I did.

Does it make any difference that this frame is one of their gunsmith kits and not a full factory P14?
