I thought I'd find out how you all spend your "gun" money... I put things in 4 major catagories:
#1) Guns!
#2) Ammo
#3) (As Skunk calls it) "Doodads"
#4) "Learning" (Including training, and books and manuals etc..)
I'd like to see a percentage breakdown..
For me, probably:
40% guns
40% ammo
1% doodads
19% learning

Until a couple of weeks ago it was 95% guns. Employer pays for ammo, work related doodads (mags, holsters, gear, etc., and training.
But....I just bought a Springfield Mil-Spec WW2 and now it needs better sights, a Commander hammer, maybe a new sear, extractor, better thumb safety, grip safety, that ILS has to go, and then a trip to Don Williams and then to APW.....so, now it'll likely be 50-50 guns/doodads. :D

This is just a guess but I would say:
70% - Doodads (Holsters, mags, etc.), Club/Range Memberships, Entry Fees, Tools, Etc.
15% - Guns
15% - Reloading Components
Unfortunately for me, the purchase of a gun is only the beginning of the spending.

Oddly, I probably spend more on training.
I purchase guns as I find a good deal. I think I only bought one gun last year. I'm sure I spent more on ammo than on guns, on averge I'd bet I do that most years. Don't know the percentages. (Don't think I want to know....)
I don't do lots of doodads. Most of my leather I make. Not "into" knives, so only have a few. Not into tacticality. I have no carbon fiber, LBV, Camelback, BoB, MRE, etc.

I'm spoiled since hubby has either bought or given me all my guns so the breakdown is real easy
100% to ammo...
:D

#1) Guns! 70%
#2) Ammo 20% including reloading stuff
#3) "Doodads" 6%
#4) "Learning" 4%
I really would like to do more of learning, sure, I read a ton, but I would like to do a class or get a dedicated video of some sort to compliment my reading. I figure practice at the range counts too, but a class like at Gunsite would be awesom. My funny schedule throws a bone into most of that stuff though.
And doodads, I see lots of holsters I would like to try... but almost all my stuff is under $20 type holsters, and I don't really have any accesories other than that.
I just always want more guns!

70% guns
20% doodads (scopes, slings, mags)
10% ammo
I'm not a huge fan of the "Rooney guns", so I'd like to think my purchases are justified.:p

Like my kids, about everything spent on feeding them. My budget (using the term loosely) goes like:
60% ammo and components
20% parts, tools, range accessories
20% guns

Right now its 100% ammo. My fiance just started a new job and I don't want to blow too much money on anything else right now. :uhoh:

more on learning = better shooter. Good for you! I've got my "to buy" list pretty much finished, so once I get that finished, it will probably be all ammo and learning..
