Specifically their legality.I saw some in a magazine (?) but it said that its against federal law to send them across state lines unless you qualify for specific reasons which were listed.Im interested in the ones below, and the guy at the Mikov site (Czechoslovakia) says hes not responsible if your new Mikov gets seized by US customs.Makes it sound pretty iffy.Whats the scoop?

Ownership is based on state/local laws. They get around the commerce clause by selling them in kit form. You put it together so technically, you are manufacturing it in the state you are using it. Never crosses state lines. For example, auto knives are legal in Florida (with the exception of the ones that shoots the blade across the room). A user or knife dealer can buy the kits and assemble the knives for use or resale.

Hk, ah, yes, the "Wile E. Coyote" knife law.

Got the same stupid thing up here. Sure, walk around with a broadsword and a submachine gun. No problem. However, if we catch you with any shooting knives from ACME, it's the county jug and a fine for you.

Buying automatic knives across the internet is gambling on whether you will ever get anytghing for your money or not. The analogy extends further in that some games have worse odds than others. If ordering from Europe knives are often seized as importation of automatics are illegal to import into the US. If gotten from a source inside the US the customs barriers do not exist, but the knife is still shipped in violation of federal law. In very rare occasions knives are actually confiscated while in shipment if sent through USPS. You can often find the same knives at gun/knife shows for the same price or less than the net.

Now to Mikov. It is a well established manufacturer in the Czech Republic that produces very good knives. I have seen several in auto collections. I thought the multiblade stag-handled versions to be particularly desirable.
