Why no high cap mag for the Ruger 44 Deerfield?

A semi auto 44 mag rifle sounds like a neat idea, but a higher capacity magazine would have been cool... Why did no one ever make one?

Lack of demand. Only reason I could think of - how many rifles were made?

What would be the point? You can't hunt with them and the .44 carbine is, for all intents and purposes, primarily a hunting arm. Not to mention the high cost of ammo, not exactly conducive to blasting away. The rifle is out of production and did not last long in the first place. I'm sure a 20-30rd magazine would not be the easiest thing to design anyway.

There's not many rifles. There's no demand because there aren't many rifles, and because .44 mag is expensive. Also, it would be tricky to design a mag since it's a rimmed cartridge.

hunting regulations aside, Deerfield does not connotate "EBR" or weapon of mass destruction
deer in field (no matter how many present) tend to get shot at one at a time, with followup shots being pretty limited in number

I have a deerfield rifle that I hunt with sometimes. I think it would be cool if someone did make 10 round mags available. Seems like it would make it more of a "fun" gun.

I don't recall hearing of any problems with the Desert Eagle .44 mags having issues, so it seems possible.

I've often thought that a 44. mag carbine (as close to the ergonomics of the US GI carbine as possible) would be a fine under 100 yards defensive weapon.... with a 15 round clip fed capacity. It it would operate properly with 44 special for training/plinking so much the better. Of course, that doesn't mean what I'd like to see is at all practical...
