Has anyone even seen this gun? Nick Ecker emailed me a couple months ago and said the gun had been shipping for about a month (along with the first of the rimless revolvers), but I can't find one at any of my regular haunts, and my local gun shop says their distributor can't get it. The web site still says "Estimated Availability to be announced" and price "TBD." I took this up with Nick during our email exchanges and he promised to update the web site, but nothing so far.

I MIGHT be interested in this gun, but I'm wondering where in the world he's shipping these revolvers.

Just wondering....

CA is supposed to be making a .40S&W bulldog soon.

nice idea, but ive never gotten over the two lousy ass .44spl bulldogs CA sold me in the 80's.

TarDevil I'm with you. I have been watching the site myself for the classic bulldog. I have also been keeping an eye out for the new 44 special Taurus 5 shot that supposed to weigh around 22oz. but haven't seen one of those either.

When I look at this gun I get itchy all over and my vittles don't taste right. I gotta get a 44 snubby.

That Taurus looks like it is on basically a J frame? Can't tell for sure. I have a Taurus 441, blue with a 4" barrel that I love. I carry a CA 3" carry concealed but will carry the Taurus when hunting or hiking.

My gunstore here in NC has the Bulldog and the 40S&W version...very nice affordable guns. I'd get both if I had the $. But I do plan on the 44spl. I like the idea of a smallish gun shooting bullets that make big holes! I have a Officers 45acp, but last few years I'm leaning towards revolvers...getting old I guess :(

More like an L. It's bigger than the CA Bulldog, which is SP-101 size.

A 5-shot .44 Cylinder would look ridonculous on a J-frame.

This is a S&W 396 .44 Spl. (L-frame):

And the Taurus

The cylinder is proportionately larger on the Bulldog than the Taurus or X96 guns:

The Taurus 445 .44spl is the same frame size as the Charter Arms .44spl bulldog. they even use the same sized speed loaders.

I have no trouble finding the Bulldog...just not the Classic. I wish Charter would quit with all the teasing until they can produce something. The Taurus looks good...if they'll get it on shelves.

If by "Classic" they mean like the original .44 Bulldogs, then I'd not be interested, either. I also don't want to repeat the experience I had with a pair of them back then. :uhoh:

The L-frame S&W .44's also use a CA44 speedloader. The 445's cylinder is 1/10" wider than the Bulldog (incidentally, so is an L-frame's)

The .40 S&W Pitbull has deduted at the LGS. I wish they would have gone the moon-clip route instead of detent wedges in the extractor.

I think Charter is doing things right now. The guns I've seen lately look pretty nice. They aren't Smiths, but neither is the price. For a good working gun I think they are ok. I kind of like the Bulldog, but I like calibers that start with a .4.

I wish they'd make the Classic in 45ACP or 45 Colt.
