I have often stated that I am not affected much by recoil and will shoot just about anything, well I have to that that back.......

If you don't want to read it here is the jist-
This fella's gunsmith buddy built a 6 pound .338 Lapua and he volunteered to shoot it. Me thinks "No way in hell would I ever shoot that thing."
Now if someone who is better in math than I would be willing, anyone want to compute what the recoil of that beast would equal in terms of a shotgun weight and load combination so we can set the new standard for deffining a "hard kicker"
Ouch- makes me want to take some of those Anti-As that Doctor Dave is always prescribing just thinking about it.
Night folks, hope you can find some humor in this one.
Matt

Shotguns don't kick.

my 45-70 with hot loads kicks.
my 300WinMag kicks.

I'd have to sit back and watch someone else touch that thing off first.

High velocity turkey loads, 3.5" flavor, out of an early Mossberg 835 with a stock about an inch too long and a frozen recoil pad. THAT was worse than anything I have ever shot, including a 9 pound 378 Weatherby mag with Weatherby ammo. I'd sooner shoot the 378 prone TWICE than I would shoot that 835 again.

With a good recoil pad on the stock I would shoot that 338. Oh, I would also verify there was plenty of eye relief on the scope too:scrutiny: .
