Virginia is generally good regarding NFA weapons, but it has a patchwork situation regarding CLEO signoffs: some will, but many won't. This has created a need for NFA trusts and LLC's in those local jurisdictions where the CLEO won't sign.

Virginia's Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, is generally pro-gun. As the state's Chief Law Enforcement Officer he has the authority to do the signoffs himself, or to delegate the function to the State Police. After all, neighboring Maryland, generally not a pro-gun state, centralizes CLEO signoffs with the State Police, and the NFA acquisition process in Maryland is much more rational and streamlined. There's also less need to create NFA trusts in Maryland.

If you live in Virginia and agree with this, by all means let the Attorney General know. Just go to his web site and leave a comment.
