The new Beretta 9mm Nano, a pocket pistol, looks very nice. I would like to try one out. Has anyone heard anything about it?

Looks pretty chunky, but rugged. Might be all right. I just wouldn't be in the market because I already have a "micro-compact" carry pistol in 9mm that weighs five ounces less, holds one more round, and cost just a tick over half the Nano's MSRP (though actually selling price of the Nano will likely come in a little lower than MSRP.) But, hey, it is a Beretta.

Medwheeler, what gun do you have?

. There are allready lighter shorter pistols that have more grip area and at a lower price. I have kahr cm9 that offer more for less that are already well prove'n designs. At 17 oz it is way closer to a mid weight pistol. But there has to be a home for it somewhere

I assume MedWheeler is talking about the Kel-Tec PF9
I'm almost wondering what Beretta's rationale is for producing this new line. Like several of you have mentioned, it is hardly the most ideal micro 9mm... heavier than most, less grip area, only 6 rounds, and around the price median, so not exactly a steal. I'm sure there is a loyal Beretta following who will eat it up, but really? At any rate, Beretta is a good company and I'm sure it will perform just as good as most of the others in the micro market.

my theory is this: more weight in the frame makes it way more resistant to flex which is why i believe that guns like the little kahr pm and cm9's have FTF's or its purely a mag issue. but, why else would two of the most prolific gun man's in our time make their only compact 9's (sub compact) so heavy?my guess is that they know something we don't.

mrecanatini: thanks for the preview.
I really like 2 things about it:
1.) Self-adjustable/changeable sights.
2.) Can take the inner part of the pistol out to clean it entirely.
I wonder if self-adjustable/changeable sights will become standard on pistols? It would be much cheaper to add your own nightsights if this is more common.

I had a Kar PM9 once. I didn't trust it. Frame flexed too much. I was afraid it would jam. Sold it at a lost.
The all metal version would probably be much more reliable but too heavy for pocket carry.
Lets see what happens with the new crop of micro 9s.

FreedomFreak assumes correctly; I am referring to the PF-9. I think at least three newcomers to the field have come to play since I got it, including the Nano (the others are the Diamondback DB9 and the Ruger LC9.)
Of the Beretta line, I'm kinda intrigued by the compact PX4 Storm, though it's definitely in a different class.

jellyjar I have 2 kahrs. The first one was used and the owner could not get it to shot more than a couple rounds at a time. Price was so low I had to buy it. Cleaned it ,lubed it, and shot the heck out of it with zero issues. That is a CW9. Turned around and bought a CM9 . Been just as good, no great. Now we know that all companies do have some issues from time to time. But many out there just don't deal with small guns well and have problems that can be caused by the shooter. I also owned a pf-9 that was also a great little pistol, sold it after proofing the cm9.
I am sure the beretta owners will buy these ,just to many other great small 9mm pistols out today .

Interesting video. The ability to add night sights is a big plus. If they designed the gun around the .40 S&W cal, why not launch with a 9 and 40? They seem to be a little late to the 9mm party.

I kind of like a small gun to have a little extra weight, but that's just me.

FWIW:
My previous experience with Beretta CS/Warranty repair some years back has me sworn off on ever buying another Beretta, but I'm sure many folks love 'em.
I have a Ruger LC9 and it's been an excellent 9MM pistol.. $365 + tax, and surprisingly accurate and so far, 100% reliable.
Guess the excellent little LC9 will hold me until my Boberg shows up a year from now. :)

So is the NANO a pocket pistol (back pocket)?
What other 9's are there that are reliable that work well out of a back pocket?

xphunter: It depends on how big your pockets are. lol.
Other nice little 9's maybe the Kimber Solo, Ruger LC9, and the Sig little 9mm.

Back pocket?? not for many Front pocket works for any j frame size snubby revolve, Kahr CM9 and if non-dress pants pockets a KT pf-9 or kahr CW9 might work, Diamond 9mm back if the bugs are worked out.
