I want to remove the plug that reduces the shell capacity of a Browning 2000. I downloaded the manual and the directions call for using 2 emply shell cases and removal via the breech. I don't have any empty cases on hand.

Is there a way to remove the plug from the front of the mag tube where the recoil system is located?

Thanks for any assistance. Bill

You should be able to completely dissemble the gas system.
Then drive out the cross-pin that holds the mag spring in.
(Be sure and control the spring, or it will fly out and shoot your eye out.)

Then pull out the spring & follower and take the plug out.

But it would be a lot simpler doing it the way Browning says, using two empty hulls to push the follower in past the two-shot plug and get it started out where you can come to grips with it.

Or a couple of chunks of 1/2" PVC pipe, or a couple of rolled up & taped cardboard tubes, or something?

Or shoot it twice and pick up your empties this time?

I will fashion something per your suggestions. And I appreciate the humor - I needed some just now. Regards, Bill
