I got a really good deal tonight on a gen3 G17 EXO. I've been doing some looking and found out EXO is an aftermarket process by Zero Fail bonded to the Tenifer which is virtually indestructible and completely rust proof. EXO also has a polished and treated barrel.
Anyone have experience with the EXO too talk about?

I have seen one in my lgs recently. I think it was a G27. The owner seemed to think it was an alternate finish that Glock offered, but I was a little skeptical of that. I think it certainly looks nice, and if it really is that durable, then congrats on an excellent buy! Be sure to keep us all updated on the situation with your Glock, I.E. range reports, durability, long term wear, etc. If the EXO is as durable as people seem to say it is, then I might need to snatch one up... (budget permitting, of course.) Have a nice day!

I have a Glock 22 Talo with the Exo finish. If you believe what they say
the finish is also self-lubricating.

Tenifer, if done right, and usually it is, cannot rust either....

From what I understand now, The black/grey coating on Glocks is not the Tenifer, it is only a gun coat. "Tenifer" is part of the steel and can not be removed. When Zero Fail processes the EXO Glocks the color is removed down to the Tenifer steel then the EXO(nickle-boron) finish is bonded to the steel.
Seems too me this makes the metal double tough and probably the most wear resistant pistols in the business.....
I'm picking the G17 up tomorrow, can't wait to check it out in person.

not been impressed with the quality of the exo fail safe finish on the glock slides. looks like a union worker with a paint gun applied it. i've seen it gobbed up in the rails on several glocks.

also, the ones i've seen did not have a "treated" barrel, exo simply removed the glock factory finish (and didn't do it well, there were patches of the original finish left).

there's been more than a few reports of exo glocks rusting too. one possible reason is they removed too much of the surface steel during the refinish process and actually removed some of the tennifer treatment.

this is just my opinion, many people like them.
