Side-by-side comparison tool - up to 8 cartridges

January 29, 2004, 12:28 AM
I just posted in response to an ammunition-related question I see raised perhaps as much as any other in reloading/ammo forums. If you can bear with me, I thought I would basically duplicate my answer because I really do think many would like to know this information and might not see that embedded reply at

Basically, what does a so-and-so cartridge look like next to a so-and-so, etc...? Can someone post a picture of...?

The benefits of such visual comparisons give one an intuitive sense of how cartridges "stack up", and are why magazines always include them in cartridge articles. I understand why you want them, but YOU CAN GENERATE THEM, YOURSELF, FREE, on my website (and have been able to for nearly a decade).

AmmoGuide includes an 8 cartridge comparison tool (among many other features), all drawn to scale, in a FREE JAVA program (that means it's SAFE and can be run right over the web) for, well, this is it's 8th year online now. For those that didn't know about it, start enjoying! There's no catch. No cookies, no spyware. It's a labor of love, please tell your friends.

FYI, I'll soon be taking reloading web sites to the next level when I open AmmoGuide Interactive for membership (hopefully first week in Feb 04). This is part of "myAmmoGuide" - the "next generation", a free member-section for the AmmoGuide website with special tools and services, many of which will be free too (some will require subscription - AmmoGuide Interactive being the first).

There is a very good demo account available now, however...

It's running very slowly...

So far 5 minutes loading, and still not even a quarter done...

worked quickly for me on my first visit, however, after closing the page and going back it didn't work right.

Thanks for trying the site. For both of these reported issues, I would try clearing your browser's caches, or try a different browser.

When one starts to utilize more exotic technology on the web than simple html (in this case downloading and running a rather sophisticated Java applet), the old "cache" issues start to appear every now and then. (One used to have to do that occasionally even when visiting static web pages.)

Also, simply exiting and restarting your browser can help too. (Re-initializes the browser's java environment).

It's a good thing guns work better than the web. :)

Runs like a champ here at the office.

Hopefully it was just my ISP being slow last night.

Boy, I've got a bunch to add! :)
