I have a service model XD .45 ACP. The pistol is amazing, I've shot about 1200 rounds through it between 7 range/field sessions with ZERO ftf/fte etc.
I clean the gun after every shooting session but the other night I decided it was time for a full detailed cleaning. I got my punch tool out and disassembled the slide completely. I was extremely careful to follow the instructions here http://www.xd-hs2000.com/disassembly/slidedisassembly.html.

There was no firing pin dampening spring. I bought the pistol brand new. My question is..how important is it to have this/does not having it cause a problem?(I know experience would suggest not)

Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.

I'm not sure because I've never detail stripped my XD. (Never felt the need for it.) However, I would suggest your go to xdtalk and register. IMHO it's the best source for XD information.

I had the same problem with mine. I had to send it to SA and let them install one though. They would not send it to me.
