Finally did it, got some 308 W brass mixed in with 308 ME brass and FL sized to 308 ME. So I can still load the improperly sized 308 W and shoot in 308 Win AR? I am assuming the brass will fire form and then I can do it correctly. SAAMI specs say the ME shoulder is set back about .030. Cases reloaded 3-4 times but still look good. Will pushing the shoulder out weaken it to an unsafe condition?

shoulder is set back about .030" Case will stretch, causing case* seperation. Do not fire in your AR rifle.

Got to thinking about it after I posted. Probably won't even go bang. That's what I get for not paying attention, scrap 40 cases. Oh well.

Not sure what ME stands for but I shoot NATO and 308 Winchester in my AR without any issue. Reload them both and reshoot. My barrel is stamped 7.62x51MM.

Popper, firing pin protrusion is around .050" more on some firearms. Plus some inertia firing pins go till they hit something like a primer. Robert101- ME is for 308 Marlin Express i think? I did not check SAAMI drawings, but .030" shoulder set back is asking for a case seperation in the head area or body. In an auto rifle it can do some damage. A Rem 700 action would be more forgiving if gas escapes.

It is 308 marlin express. I dropped the cases into a 308 gauge and there is NO WAY they will fire. I should have checked that before I posted. 243winxb is correct, if I had gotten one to fire, I would be sorry. Glad I did get that gauge, I use it for 243, 30-30 and both 308s with a mike for the non 308 cases. Other mistakes I made were dumping brass after a range session into the wrong jug and cleaning the garage while prepping brass. Of course I don't do anything else when loading.
