Let's assume you could get Gadhafi's golden pistol out of Libya. What would the value of such a gun be and are there similar, somewhat recent, notorious items floating around out there? Or should such items be sent off to the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark?

I don't know.
But I expect to see at least two or three show up on Gunbroker before too long!!

See this about Hitlers pistols:

I don't think Gadhafi's gun would be nearly as valuable as Hitlers.
But you never know!

One-of-a-kind items are worth exactly what somebody is willing to pay for them.

It'd probably be bought by a museum (where it should belong).
Don't I sound like Indian Jones?

Step one, get a Hi Power, step two, engrave it just like Gadhafi's, Gold plate it and get the same grips, make up some bogus story on how you get it, put it on Gun broker and watch the gun begin.

Then you'll know how much it's worth.

I vote for curation/display in a museum where people can see what was going on in Lybia in the last 40 or so years. As an archaeologist, I think the warehouse scene at the end of Indiana Jones was one of two fairly realistic scenes in that movie.

FAMOUS GUNS ARE ALWAYS WORTH ALOT LOOK AT THE GUN JACK RUBY USED BUT Gadhafi's golden pistol DESERVES TO STAY IN ITS HOME COUNTRY. BUT SERIOUSLY HE DIDNT EVEN TRY TO USE IT TO PROTECT HIMSELF IM SURE ITS JUST PART OF A MUCH LARGER COLLECTION DID YOU SEE SOME OF THE GUNS SADDAM HAD.
